Marmaduke Lemon Wins at Wolverhampton

By Gary Taylor

Wolverhampton Racecourse is one of the most established racecourses in the Midlands.

As the first flood-lit horse racing track in Britain, Dunstall Park has quickly become one of the busiest racecourses  – hosting over 80 all-weather flat racing fixtures each year.

The course at Wolverhampton is certainly not an easy one. The flat, left-handed oval circuit is just under a mile in length. It’s a tight course and the fairly sharp bends and narrow straight are typically suited to horses that come into their stride pretty quickly.

Marmaduke Lemon is a home-bred 3-year-old gelding, owned by Blu Bloodstock.

He was entered in the 5:25pm Get Raceday Ready Restricted Maiden Stakes over 7 furlongs at the Summer Evening Racing event at Wolverhampton on Thursday 5th September 2024. And he certainly didn’t disappoint!

Read on to find out how our racehorse got on and why you should consider becoming a member of our racing clubs.

Our Winner – Marmaduke Lemon

All the team are thrilled to announce that our chestnut beauty finally got a win under his belt after coming close a couple of times in previous races.

On the day, Marmaduke Lemon was ridden by Harrison Shaw.

After the race, Harrison told us that he was very pleased with the performance and how Marmaduke Lemon ran – pressing the leader, Kaolinite, and joining him over 2 furlongs out before getting in front.

He held his own in the lead and ran on willingly in the final furlong – demonstrating his excellent speed and stamina, which is a real testament to trainer, Ed Bethell’s training prowess.

Everyone at Blu Bloodstock is incredibly proud of Marmaduke Lemon and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for this chestnut gelding!

Shared Success for Racehorse Syndicate Members

Racehorse syndicates have grown in popularity in recent years, and it’s largely down to the fact they allow people to enjoy the benefits of racehorse ownership without the financial saddle.

Our aim, here at Blu Bloodstock, is to make racehorse shares more affordable for enthusiasts who want to experience the thrills and excitement of horse racing by becoming members of our racing clubs.

When you sign up for a membership with us, you might not be the sole owner of a thoroughbred race horse, like Marmaduke Lemon, but every member is entitled to an equal percentage of the prize money.

Prize money is shared proportionally according to the number of memberships sold relating to the horse. This will typically be distributed as one lump sum once your membership terminates – meaning you could end up with a significant amount over the 12-month period.
